Outdoor Activities

Step outside your door and into the wild. Within the Village sits at the edge of over 2,000 hectares of Connemara National Park, with miles of coastline, beaches, and hills to explore.

Our Concierge team can help arrange bespoke itineraries with experienced local guides. Outdoor experiences are tailored to your preferences and are best arranged in advance.

Sample Activities:

  • Fly Fishing in Connemara’s lakes and rivers

  • Shooting experiences, including duck hunting with licensed guides

  • Golf at nearby links and parkland courses

  • Island tours, with private boat access to Inishbofin or other nearby islands

Art & Culture

Within the Village Suites offers guests a quiet, meaningful connection to the creative spirit of the West of Ireland. Each property showcases original work from celebrated Irish artists and craftspeople, creating a living gallery that reflects the textures, stories, and soul of Connemara.

Featured artists and makers include:

  • Joe Hogan – master basketmaker using native willow

  • The Tweed Project – contemporary fashion using traditional Irish fabrics

Within the Village offers guests a deeper way to connect with the culinary heritage of the West of Ireland. From foraged shellfish to hill-farmed lamb, we highlight the stories and skills behind Connemara’s most respected producers.

Guests have the opportunity to:

  • Shuck native oysters on the shoreline

  • Taste fresh mussels harvested from Killary Fjord

  • Visit organic hill farms known for Connemara Lamb

Watersports

Located along the Wild Atlantic Way, Within the Village offers easy access to some of the most scenic and unspoiled coastal waters on Ireland’s west coast. Whether you’re looking for calm exploration or something more adventurous, our trusted local partners provide safe, professionally guided experiences for all skill levels.

Available Activities:

  • Sunset kayaking in sheltered bays

  • Surfing lessons on nearby beaches

  • Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP)

  • Coasteering along the rugged coastline

Through our partnerships with local curators and creatives, we offer bespoke cultural experiences such as:

Workshops

Throughout the quieter seasons, we host a programme of small group workshops and events that explore themes rooted in Connemara’s culture, food, and creative traditions.

These gatherings offer guests the chance to learn something new, meet local experts, and spend time in good company — whether you’re joining solo, as a couple, or with a group.

For private groups, we can curate a fully personalised itinerary around your interests — from craft and cooking workshops to guided walks, art-focused sessions, or seasonal retreats.

All workshops are subject to availability and are typically held between October and April. Advance notice is recommended for private requests.

Fly-Fishing

We offer private fly-fishing experiences in partnership with expert local guides, led by international fly-fishing outfitter Teddy Coulter. Whether you’re new to casting or a seasoned angler, our guided trips are tailored to suit experience level and preference.

Fish fast-flowing streams for wild trout, track fresh-run Atlantic salmon, or drift across Lough Corrib in search of native browns — all with expert instruction, high-quality equipment, and access to some of the most scenic waters in the west of Ireland.

  • All equipment provided (rods, waders, flies)

  • Packed lunch can be arranged on request
