February at Within the Village
February opens with welcome recognition for Within the Village and sets the tone for the year ahead.
We were honoured to receive our McKenna’s Best Places to Stay in Ireland for 2026 plaque following a visit by John and Sally McKenna last autumn. Shortly after, we were selected for McKenna Guides 26 for 26, highlighting sustainable places to stay across Ireland with a focus on year-round tourism.
Most recently, Within the Village featured in the Irish Independent Top 100 places to eat, sleep, sip and explore in Ireland for 2026. The list was compiled by over 50 travel insiders and taste makers and celebrates places offering genuine value and experience.
This recognition reflects a clear focus on detail, comfort and a slower, more considered approach to luxury.
Why February works so well
February brings light back into the evenings and a sense of space before the busier months.

Guests often start the day with a sea swim at Gurteen Beach, followed by a private sauna session at Ervalagh Pier. Afterwards, return to fresh scones and coffee in the village.
Golfers enjoy open fairways at Connemara Championship Golf Links without summer crowds. Evenings suit relaxed meals and conversation by the fire.
Six Nations rugby adds atmosphere to the village, with matches shown in King’s Pub followed by dinner in O’Dowd’s. Valentine’s weekend pairs well with rugby, good food and an unhurried stay.
