November 2025 – Autumn at Within the Village: Food, Design and Quiet Luxury in Connemara
An Exceptional Off-season Opportunity
Within The Village celebrated its second anniversary in September and we want to thank each and every
one of our new and returning guests for your incredible support over the past two years. Now that peak
season is petering out and life here is quietening down, we are excited to announce our new unique ‘B&B’ service.
From October through to May, each house is available to rent as a one-bedroom en suite with fully
equipped kitchen and luxury living space for short-term stays, with a minimum of two nights. Enjoy
freshly baked scones and bread delivered to your door each morning, plus complementary seasonal
roasted coffee from local suppliers Calendar Coffee, which you can brew each morning for a leisurely
breakfast spent overlooking the ocean waves. Andy or Katelynn will be on hand to give you a warm
traditional west-of-Ireland welcome and ensure you feel perfectly at home throughout your stay.
With our congenial hosts, wood burning stoves and soulful sea views, Within The Village is the ideal
place to simply stop and reset. Summer may be spectacular in Connemara, but winter has a seductive
spirit all of its own. Roundstone, Connemara and Within The Village have myriad personalities depending on the season in which you experience them. During off-season, international tourists and local visitors have the opportunity to enjoy Ireland’s mystic west in all of its “savage beauty” – as Oscar Wilde so famously described it – from the cosy, comfortable and beautifully considered surrounds of Within The Village.

Plan Your Creative Escape
In September, Within The Village hosted a two-day design retreat called Wood + Stone, the first in its
‘Connecting With Irish Craft’ series. Devised in collaboration with Galway interior designer Lynne
O’Loughlin, who brought her unique voice and expertise to the event, the weekend saw design enthusiasts and craft lovers gather in the homely but elegant surroundings of Within The Village. Together, they celebrated the creativity and materiality of this rich and vibrant region in the west.
The immersive weekend focused on the natural, tactile elements of wood and stone and included practical design workshops on colour theory and lime paint, held in the charming and characterful dining room of nearby Errisbeg House. Site visits to ATU Letterfrack – to view a collection of world-class contemporary furniture – and concrete mason Paddy O’Malley’s unassuming shoreline workshop with views out to the Aran Islands and Twelve Bens, were joyful and insightful.
Breakfast, lunch and long-table suppers were prepared and served by Aideen and Shauna of Landlover
Food, who deftly reimagined fresh-as-they-come locally sourced fish, meat and vegetables into inspiring dishes that fused indigenous ingredients with unexpected flavours. Every meal was a culinary adventure – exciting, playful and utterly delicious.

Food Lover’s Fantasy
This month, Within The Village welcomes experiential travel and food company Bog & Thunder and chef
Aishling Moore of Goldie – Cork’s Michelin Bib Gourmand seafood restaurant – for two unique, sold
out, seasonal feasts showcasing the west’s finest fish, seafood and foraged flavours.
Embracing the same ethos of community and sustainability as Within The Village, Moore is committed to
ocean welfare, practicing whole fish cookery and working exclusively with independent fishermen in her
local town. Each event will be a culinary exploration of the best of Connemara’s bounty, offering an
authentic but inventive taste of this plentiful region.
Suppers will take place on Friday, 14 and Saturday, 15 November, from 6.30pm-11pm, and will include a curated multi-course meal featuring an original welcome cocktail conceived by Moore and Bog &
Thunder. The price of this unforgettable evening is €85pp (wine at dinner will be available for an
